60’s Architectural Gem

60’s Architectural Gem

This architect designed 60s home had soaring ceilings and clerestory windows.  However the spaces didn’t work for this busy family with three teenagers.  Every room was disconnected. The kitchen was small and dysfunctional.  My lovely couple accepted my challenge to move the kitchen and extend the outside wall to the eaves. The kitchen now opens to courtyards on both sides and the extra space gave them a pantry/bar which opens to a deck which was once an unusable indoor space.  The flow from the kitchen to the new deck and bar has created a whole new party zone for friends and family.  The teenagers love it. Kirsten sent me a text: “Thank you for everything. For your big, brilliant designs, your patience with our pfaffing, your brilliant networks of trusted tradesmen, and your excellent company.  This reno has made such a difference to our general wellbeing !”
